As most of the school knows, our hard-working theatre and English teacher Mrs. Anna Botsford is dividing her time between Sturgis West and Sturgis East. Following this year she will be working permanently at Sturgis West.
One of her many jobs is being the theatre director for Sturgis Theatre Arts Guild of Entertainers (STAGE), which puts on the school plays outside of the academic theater classes. This job will be passed on to the new English and Theatre teacher Mrs. Rachel Ollagnon following the fall play.
Botsford plans to make her last play here a good one with the popular comedy “Rumors,” authored by Neil Simon. It takes place in New York City: Four couples get caught in the middle of a gunshot mystery, and hilarity ensues. The play opens in December.

“Rumors” is going to be different from any other fall play because it is the first ever comedy in the fall, there will be a building crew, and rumor has it that it may just be the biggest set in Sturgis history. It will certainly end Botsford’s time at Sturgis East with a bang.
Following her involvement this past summer with the Cotuit Center of the Arts’ production of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The 39 Steps,” she is ready to go with more acting exercises, new ideas and a new gust of passion for her subject, a burst that will hopefully follow her Sturgis West. With a bigger room and hopefully more students, Sturgis West STAGE will be set up very successfully.
Not to worry, Ollagnon will be well prepared with handling STAGE with her extensive experience and experience sitting in on rehearsals this fall with Botsford.
