Charlie Powicki Wins Poetry Out Loud Contest

Poetry Out Loud Winner Charlie Powicki


Freshmen Charlie Powicki won the Poetry Out Loud School Contest on February 3 and will move on to the state sectionals at the Cultural Center in South Yarmouth on March.
Powicki was one of eight freshmen who participated in the afternoon in the library. The contest, sponsored by the Huntington Theatre of Boston's Educational Outreach Department, started as a poetry recitation unit in the three freshman English classes.
The finalists from the classroom contests were: Ellie Davis, reciting "A Dream Within a Dream" by Edgar Allan Poe, Brittany Gayton, reciting "To Luck" by W.S. Merwin, Stepahnie Johnson, reciting "Alone" by Edgar Allan Poe, Cassie Langtry, reciting "Here"by Joshua Mehigan, Charlie Powicki, reciting "Invictus" by William Ernest Henley, Mary Rosbach and Meredith Sullivan both reciting "On Monsieur's Departure" by Queen Elizabeth I, and Teresa Willander, reciting "Solitude" by Ella Wheeler Wilcox. Each student did a phenomenal job. Congratulations are in order for all involved.
