Curran Candidate Statement

Freshman Representative: Katie Curran 

 

It would be an honor to be elected as the 2016 Freshman Class Representative.  I would love to serve my classmates at this unique and remarkable school.  If elected, I would have a positive and effective role in the Student Council.  It would be a pleasure serving the student body here at Sturgis.
As Student Council Representative, I would interact with my peers and take strides to encourage a variety of  enriching activities for the freshman class.  I am extremely reliable and motivated, as well as very approachable and friendly.  It would be an amazing opportunity working with my classmates to enrich student life here at Sturgis.  As Representative, it would be my goal to spread Sturgis pride through the halls of Sturgis East and beyond into our community.   
My background is proof that I am an effective leader.  I really enjoy serving the people and seeing a smile on their face.  In middle school, I was president of my school's Student Council, and 2 year president of my school's Honor Society.  In addition to that, I am  involved in my community through volunteering.  I enjoy public speaking and listening and learning from others.  I am a true leader.  I have attended a leadership conference in Washington D.C. which taught me valuable skills to utilize in a position such as Freshman Class Representative.
I am confident that I could be a great addition to Student Council.  Being involved in Student Council events as the Freshman Rep. would give me an opportunity to provide my class with fun and exciting activities. These events provide students with a good balance between their academic and social life.
It would mean the world to me to be elected Freshman Class Representative.  On Tuesday, September 25,  I respectfully ask for your support in this election.
